I'M NOT A PET!
WHY WE EXIST
Colombia has very rich, mega-diverse and important ecosystems. Many of them are endangered.
Illegal wildlife trade is the third largest illegal market in Colombia, after drugs and arms. Only one in ten animals survive. Illegal wildlife trade causes death and suffering and is as well a dangerous crime for communities and their children.
OF ANIMALS DIE
VERY FEW SURVIVE
OUR FORESTS URGENTLY NEED PROTECTION, WILD ANIMALS BELONG IN THE WILD.
ENGAGED AND CARING CHILDREN WILL CHANGE THE FUTURE.
By preserving an entire ecosystem within the city, we do not only protect endangered flora but also give “wild visitors” a home and place to rest.
We provide 27 species of native wildlife who were confiscated by local authorities, a shelter and medical care. Most of them are not only victims of crime but also in danger of extinction.
The land of our foundation is the last existing ecosystem of it’s kind in a city. Most of our animals are in danger of extinction.
We care, rescue, rehabilitate, protect and preserve. And we don’t give up.
The foundation is the ideal environment to welcome school classes (2,000 children in 2015) and groups of locals and tourists to learn about Colombia’s precious, rich, though endangered biodiversity its importance of protecting and conserving it.
We are constantly improving our teaching concepts and infrastructure to guarantee engaging and sustainable education for a steadily growing number of involved children of all social backgrounds.
